First my condolences to Prince Michael and the rest of Michael’s children, and the rest of the bold Jackson family, who have endured with boldness despite cheap shot after cheap shot (TMZ, that means YOU). Michael’s loss has sunk in, and there will never be another, just as there will never be another Elvis, Marilyn or Jimi. Rest in Peace, my man, and then get the heaven bands set up! The country, the world, even prisoners world-wide have etched your work into our collective memories and we sorely miss you.
Second, John Mayer, in living up to the commands in his song SAY was very skilful in his tribute to Michael Jackson – even though John never knew Michael Jackson and was very surprised by the invitation to play at the Staples Center in Los Angeles the day of the Michael Jackson Tribute.

Third, I like this version – and I calibrated it through averaging 8 trial from my DVR the after noon of the ceremony. Ay the same time, to actually put up this analysis any closer to the date of death I thought was just gauche. At the same time, the performance is brilliant, as is John’s ultra-cool use of relative tempo.
